Kyrgyz/ Kazakh mountains at Lake Issyk Kul

From the Kyrgyz capital of Bishkek we took a (shared) taxi to Karakol in the east, passing Lake Issyk Kul. It was a beautiful journey; left of us the high mountain ranges that separated us from Kazakhstan and left of us the Issyk Kul lake and on the other side of it snowy mountains. We passed many little villages, where horse-drawn carts where bringing back hay from the fields or old ladies where hanging sheep skins to dry in the sun. Another memorable trip, crossing half the country from west to east.

Part of the Issyk Kul lake area was established as World Network of Biosphere Reserves by UNESCO.
