As we were waiting for our visas for Uzbekistan and Iran, we made ourselves comfortable in the Kyrgyz capital of Bishkek and travelled around the country. Right outside Bishkek is the Ala Archa national park. A Kyrgyz tour operator arranged transportation for us and a ride of a couple of hours on horse back as well. Traditional Kyrgyz saddles were not so comfortable, mainly because the weren't made for guys as big as me:). The scenery was absolutely stunning: snowy peaks, little creeks everywhere and abundant flowers. After going up on horse back, we walked on a little more, but as the weather was going to deteriorate and we weren't going to make it back in time to the place where we were going to be picked up otherwise, we went back before reaching the summit.

It was a great chance, away from the urban business and definitely worth your visit!
