Children at the road side near Kratie

We started out, early in the morning, with the two of us on the back of one motorbike, as we had also done in China, but since the bikes were considerably smaller here, it was a very bad idea and we hired a second one. The tour through Kratie's surroundings was definately worthwhile, but the visit to the spot where you were supposed to be able to observe the rare Irrawaddy sweet water dolphins that are threatened by extinction surely was not. We paid for a boat trip on the river, but seeing that there was not much to be seen, we asked our money back for the boat trip, only paying for the entrance to the small stretch of river bank that was reserved for this 'amazing spectacle'. But they just ignored us and we didn't see a penny back. So on the way back we gave our tickets to some other tourists. So in case you go there, save yourself the seven dollars for nothing.
