Children at the roadside on the way from Vientiane to Luang Prabang

After our short visit to Laos' not too charming capital Vientiane we took a bus (what a horrible experience, sitting in the upper front seats in the sun without any ventilation, let alone airconditioning) to Luang Prabang, a journey that took us some nine hours. The positive side was that sitting behind the enormous front wind screen enabled me to take a lot of nice pictures of life along the road connecting these two major cities of Laos. We crossed stunning mountains and vast plains and saw monks, little children and whole families by the road side. In the north we saw a lot of wooden houses along the roads, often with little dirty children playing in front of them and the men sitting and smoking, playing cards or talking int he shade.
