Siem Reap is the usual basis for all visits to Angkor Wat and the surrounding ruins. Siem Reap is a lovely town with obiously far too many tourists, but still it is a pleasant town that can keep you occupied for a couple of evenings. Especially the food stalls outside the evening market are worth a visit, where you can have dinner for a dollar or two.
